Clay Pumping

Through the utilization of a 6-inch Eddy Pump on Tornado Motion Technologies’ dredge (www.tornadomotion.com), a dredging subsidiary of Eddy Pump we were capable of pumping 20,000 cubic yards of clay sediments from the Illinois River south of Ballard’s Island. Local farmers showed strong support for the Eddy Pump and Tornado Motion Technologies efforts and received 20,000 cubic yards of valuable topsoil from the operations. During the operation solid transfer rates of 25% to 80% were achieved at pumping rates well above 1000 gallons per minute. Officials of the IDNR commented that the Eddy Pump would change the way silt and other materials are removed from river and lake basins, and make wholesale dredging cost-effective for recreational and environmental purposes.
